Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide extends the deadline to engage
The Royal Commission has extended the deadline for the public to lodge submissions and seek a private session:
- New submissions will now be accepted up to 13 October 2023.
- Private sessions can now be requested up to 28 April 2023 and the sessions will be held up to the end of 2023.
A private session is a confidential meeting with one or more of the Commissioners where you tell them about your personal experience. You decide what you say and what you do not want to share. Private sessions can happen by telephone, video link or in person.
The next public hearings of the Royal Commission will be in Townsville at the Mercure Hotel from 20 June 2022 and in Hobart from 1 August 2022 – venue to be announced.
The Defence and Veterans Legal Service can help prepare a submission and/or apply for a private session and explain the benefits and protections of the different ways of engaging with the Royal Commission.
